Bondage Boots - Yay or Nay?

I tend to go for Caribbean colors, but I gotta say the black is pretty cool too.

Would you wear them?

Iconic Dress Week 2

I have to say that I would love the chance to wear each of these iconic dresses, but my fave is the first one. I prefer simple and beautiful. Of course both are lovely but one is for a wedding :)

Grace Kelly To Catch a Thief, 1955. In a dress that rivals the beauty of her wedding gown
Grace Kelly At her wedding to Prince Rainier, 1956. Who says there's anything wrong with covering up?

Which one would you choose?

Which Iconic Dress Week 1

I am rather particular about clothes and styles, so I'd have to say Lauren and please make it turquoise blue.

What about you?

Katharine Hepburn The Philadelphia Story, 1940. From the woman who insisted on wearing trousers, an unforgettable dress worn in an unforgettable movie.
Lauren Bacall To Have and Have Not, 1944. Scandalous and skin bearing in the World War II era

Victoria's Secret Culturally Insensitive Faux Pas

This story sounds familiar?
Yes it does!!

Not everything is to be demeaned for the sake of fashion! Get more creative with your ideas peeps.

And if someone would just ask questions and do some research, they wouldn't end up doing stuff like this and then having to apologize. The photo is already live honey, there is no pulling it.

Thoughts?

The controversy began when she walked the runway wearing a Native American headdress (also called a war bonnet), a culturally insensitive faux pas that led the company to pull the footage of the offending outfit from its planned Dec. 4 broadcast.

Several Native American groups called the lingerie company out for the blunder.

Native Appropriations, a blog covering imagery of indigenous cultures, accused the retailer of "egregious cultural appropriation, stereotyping, and marginalizing of Native peoples." Ruth Hopkins, a columnist for a Native American news site, wrote that "after years of patronage and loyalty to the Victoria's Secret brand, I am repaid with the mean-spirited, disrespectful trivialization of my blood ancestry and the proud Native identity I work hard to instill in my children." Putting a headdress on a white model is particularly offensive, she wrote, because among the Sioux tribe, war bonnets are exclusively worn by men, with each feather symbolizing an act of valor.

To Bang in Pajamas

I must say she is rocking the bangs, but why would she choose such an ensemble?

The woman is sexy, but girl needs to hire me to dress her up! :)

And I bet that cost a pretty penny!

Stevie Wonder Could See This One Coming

I think most of us has had our little puppy love or infatuations with one person or another as we grow up.

Not that this couldn't have lasted, but with any relationship, it's best to take it with a wide open mind that anything can happen.

I'm not at all surprised nor does it even bump the scale.

So as their little bodies and minds grow up, it's only normal to feel attached to different people that shares their lives for a period of time.

Do you remember your first puppy love?

Here Comes The Pink Bride - Yay or Nay?

She says she surprised herself with the dress.

I honestly thing it's a personal choice and feel not one way or the other towards it.

If I could get away with it, I'd have worn red or turqoise blue :) oh or even purple with gold trim!

So you go girl! It's your day.

What do you think about her pink wedding dress choice? Would you?

Sometimes the color and the girls makes the dress

For me, I'd want this dress in red. But then again, I'm partial to red.

Now these girls do make the dress swing, but for filling the dress out and letting it sit proper, I'd say Katy brought the girls and the hips and meat to fill it out.

What say you?

Beauty as mine and yours

This is so precious to see this lovely girl on the cover of a top magazine. These are the people we should be celebrating and hailing their struggles and perseverance and hope.

Our children need to see good strong roll models.

Today I feel much better about CoverGirl.

Cover Girl named Talia, a teen with cancer, the "honorary face" of the cosmetic line.

Isn't she lovely?

Racist Or Fashion Forward?

I found this article over at Harriet and I have to say that I agree with her article.
It's glaring the fact that being black in the lens is not accepted, unless they have some depleted role for your character.

Quote:
There were no Black women modeling any of the more than 80 looks presented at the Dolce & Gabbana show. Our only appearance was hanging on the ears of pale models and adorning their bodies. We should be upset that our disembodied heads are welcome in spaces where our physical presences are not.

Are we so starved for cultural validation that we'll mistake any representation, no matter how damaging, for tribute? We are living, breathing beings not things to be collected as kitsch.

Fashion has an accountability problem, those who are excluded and erased are going to have to demand it. Dolce & Gabbana should not be allowed to profit off of perpetuating racist cultural myths. The willful colonization of Black culture in the fashion industry needs to be addressed. Our bodies are not trends. Our history is not free for consumption and misappropriation.

Tan and Color Always Rock!

I think it's hard to compare both these women in this dress.
They are the same, but not really.

If they were wearing the same color, then it would be fair, but they are not.

However as an island girl I'm always heading for the colorful and beautiful pop in clothing. So I will choose Kerry's dress. She really pulls it off nicely.

I wish I could have seen what Jessica would have looked like in the colorful one too. Or Kerry in the white dress.

What do you say?

And on that note, I can see this cute little number in so many different design colors!
